Veggie cleanse

After a full week of eating anything I want including TWO gluten and dairy filled Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes, I am going on a 5 day veggie cleanse. Today, I started with mixed greens, rice cheese (yeah, I allowed myself this processed food), craisins, and pecans. I went on to have just raw veggies and fruit as snacks. Finished with a few pieces of dark chocolate.

I’m excited for tomorrow’s meals: butternut squash smoothie for breakfast and quinoa pb&j for lunch.

I’m also doing a wallet cleanse too by only buying necessities for the rest of the month. I already have my feb wish list started.

Considering trying to do a running race every month this year. Already have Jan, March, may, august, sept, oct lined up.

Today’s analogy (#3)

Multitasking is very seldom a good idea. The human brain is like a dollar bill, split it up and spend a quarter here, a dime over there, but at the end of the day the sum of your effort is still a dollar. The theory is, if you spend one dollar all on one item each day, eventually it will become routine and only cost a penny to accomplish.

Today, I was spread thin. Trying to eat healthy for an upcoming half marathon and also trying to reduce purchasing unnecessary items. Neither accomplished, however, I would say I gained a few quarters by finally doing that spring cleaning and removing all the clutter from my apartment (and mind?), specifically focusing on clothes that are too big because I have done an excellent job of eating healthy the past year and the end result had been dramatic weight loss.

So I will indulge in that extra cookie 😉 and new skirt that’s in my new smaller size.

A large pile for goodwill. Finally getting rid of the prom dress I never actually wore (even though it still fits after 14 years)

Week of Analogies (Day 1)

After reading Mile Markers and being in awe of her blogging/writing style I want to try a week of analogies (and lack of use of I/me/my in a majority if her posts).

Perusing through Active’s iphone app last night, the desire to take golf lessons the month of October was thwarted by my determination to stick to a Tuesday/Thursday EVENING run schedule. Much like the Little Mermaid who had to give up her voice to see her prince, I’ve had to give up morning runs to stick to the half marathon training plan because the will to sleep when the sun is not out has overcome my desire to see my ‘prince’ too many times in the past month.

Day 23

Lost my master password to my master password file. I tried, what I thought was all the combinations. I walked away and came back to it after my run and the password just flowed from my fingers. Thank goodness! I’ve written it down and stored it away just in case.

Day 22

With the $1k medical bill this month and the fact that I still have a ton of food in my apartment, maybe I will continue this through July. I could probably put off buying a new motorcycle helmet till August. I will have to plan a budget for the week I’m in Oregon, which is sure to be expensive with hotel bills and such. I will consider doing this restricted budget 2 out of every 5 months, similar to the restricted calorie regime I’m on.

Reflections on $100 Budget month

More than half way done with the month and over $60 cash left!

Spent $859.90 so far, mostly on necessities. This does not include rent, medical bills nor the ~$100 cash I had at the beginning of the month which I gave my self permission to use for whatever I want.

Reflection on the past 18 days: I have probably sneaked a few more items from the grocery store, coining them as ‘necessities’, than I should have (need to be a little more honest with myself) and I certainly indulged by buying that dress, which I intend to return. I put it on for my sisters last night and now I do not like it as much as it cost me.

I have also been spending a bit more on shipping items, which is out of the norm. I am trying to sell books and DVDs and also shipped some DVDs to my sisters. Good to get them out of my tiny apartment.

I’m proud of myself for passing up some fast food at times and also bringing food (PB&J) to the park instead of buying new stuff to bring to the park for a picnic. Also proud of all those things I wanted to buy but resisted!!
